 An IRC based chat applet.

We can make the channel +s so that the only people who join it are people on the chat applet, and we can keep the channel +m so that only people with +v can talk. All the regulars will get registered, and can be given automatic +v so we don't have to worry about having to +v all the regulars all the time. And you can appoint a few people who are on regularly to be OP to provide +v and add the vop status to potential regulars.

Think about it. It's a great idea.

It would be a great idea if we didn't already have a chatbox.

the chatbox isn't very functional honestly. Stuff disappears a lot. Sometimes messages will lag a lot...

It's pretty unreliable if you want to get ahold of someone for a GB.

The only person who was really hard on my suggestion to change it was Psycom, and he doesn't even use the chatbox.

I'm pretty sure most everyone who uses the chatbox will agree with my previous statements about the limited functionality of the one we have.

I'd even be willing to donate some money for a good chatbox.

I understand that the current chatbox doesn't display old messages, but that's why you should post on the forum instead. The chatbox, like an IRC channel, should be used for small-talk and quick chat. If you'd like to get ahold of someone for a GB match, you'd get better results from creating a thread.

In any case though, I'll be searching for a new chatbox. Might even do a theme change too.

im gonna agree with mach on this one,a irc chat would be better then the chatbox,simply because of all the things mach said and then u can see who is online or offline...

Phare: The best way to contact someone for a GB would be something that pops up immediately, like an IRC chat would!

Unfortunately this chatbox makes you need to refresh to get the messages. Just like you'd need to refresh to see a forum post.

Whereas with an IRC chat, it'd pop up everytime and you'd always notice it without having to refresh.

You don't need to refresh anything, I never have to >.> I stay on the box from the "Show unread posts since last visit" page

Sometimes I'll sit in the chat in the middle of a conversation for five minutes without a response, refresh and suddenly there are three responses 2 minutes before the current time.

the old chatbox was 100000 times better why you changed it for this bad one ill never know
